A rope and harness would help.

Climbing shoes & locking biners might come in handy too. [ This Message was edited by: data118 on 2002-10-30 11:27 ]

Make sure you have some slings and biners as well. First of all (IMO) you need at least one, preferably two sling(s) girth hitched to your harness so you can clip into the anchor bolts when you get to the top of the climb. Also, some people prefer to use slings and biners for setting up an anchor at the top for top roping when the second climber cleans your draws. Others just use two quick draws. The second climber will also need a sling(s) girth hitched to his harness for clipping into the anchors when he sets up the rope for rappel. Also a stick clip is not a bad investment.

A few longer length draws in addition to your mostly short ones for those clips where a little extension would be a better idea.

Yeah, a clipstick is a good idea. A helmet is an even better idea (although not as common).

If you don't want to shell out big bucks for draws, get omega pacific! They are made by prison inmates, so they are cheaper! If your scetched out on convict made gear then check out the website for more info on the program, there is even a forum post here somewhere.

I agree with the omega good draw. I have a bunch of BD quicksilvers and the omega are just as nice an 3 bucks cheaper. That = 30 bones if you are getting 10 (which I recomend).

ha. i have a kelty tioga that was probably made in 1970. it was my dad's. the straps on it have petrified and a few weeks ago we hiked the mountains around seneca. i was wearing that and it bruises the hell out of your pelvis. i say it has character. everyone else just laughs at it.
