I am a climbing guide and travel around with the weather to work and climb. I went back to the "real world" for the last three years and have decided it is over rated and just not for me. I am a free spirit as I am sure a lot of you are as well.

Question is: What are the best places for crack climbing in the US?

If you know of any in South and Central America as well that would be awesome. I think I am going to go there for the winter this year.

If you a lot of info feel free to email me at sdawdy@gmail.com

The gunks is probably the best crack destination in the country.

-Indian Creek
-Cali Needles
-Yosemite/Tuolumne
-Cal Dome
-Paradise Forks (only 120+ routes so if you lead 5.12/.13 you'd outclimb it in a few weeks
-Sedona (lots of good stuff and lots of potential)
-Donners Summit (ie:Snowshed, but smallish) and to the south Sugarloaf (also smallish)

I'll second Sedona. The cliff behind the church. (church spires)
"Praying Hands"
"Follow your Bliss"
I haven't done it but it looked like an amazing climb, "Castles in the Sand"

lots of great crack climbing all over wyoming. vedauwoo, devils tower, fremont canyon, lots of unnamed granite rock formations down in the laramie range. it may not be the best in the country, but it'll keep a smile on your face and it's better than the freaking gunks.

Why in the world would someone ask about crack climbing in a sport climbing folder!? I agree with all the sporties in that thread that said the OP must not know what he is talking about. Crack climbing should almost never be sport climbing!!

But I am pretty impressed at the quality of advice on there! Must be a lot of people on here who are both sport climbers and trad climbers.

We prefer the term "climber".

...not to mention aid climbers, ice climbers, boulderers, armchair climbers, and trolls.

I'm sure one of those descriptions would fit the OP in both threads. Crazy
