Is possible to replace the pick on the Grivel X Monster ice tool? I really like the feel of the tool, but can't see it being worth it to buy a tool that has a non modular pick. Thanks.

Well, i just found this: http://www.mec.ca/...;bmUID=1211080488523 But MEC seems to be the only place that sells it, which is a little weird. And most of the reviews that I have read say that you cannot replace the pick. including this forum:http://www.rockclimbing.com/...x%20monster;#1251280 Also, I think I read that the Matrix Light uses the X Monster replacement pick. why cant I find it anywhere other than in Canada? This just baffles me.

http://www.grivel.com/ According to Grivel, the head is replaceable, and during the winter, I saw replacement heads on a variety of websites. I have the Quantum Techs, which use the same head. The ends of the screws are flattened, which means you'll have to file or grind them off to change the pick, which may be why some think it's not replaceable. There don't seem to be any other pick options, other than the OEM one, unlike the Monster. Kathy

I found out that they call the it the "X Monster Blade," so if you do a google search for that, a bunch of stuff comes up. Sweeeet, now its time to find a good deal on them.

Yeah, the original first few runs of the monster type tools had the pick riveted on. Since then Grivel has switched over all their new line of technical tools to using an X-monster type of pick and they are now replacible via 3 smal bolts (hex wrench needed). They are still manucaturing picks for their Wing series tools, but I'm not sure about the older pick though.
