What is the latest on the camping/parking situation at Frenchman Coulee/Vantage? How much are the fees and what sort of permit is required? Thanks!

Fish and game Recreation Site parking permit or a National Park/Fedrall lands pass has you covered for both. You can get the first one at the little store in George...past the gas station and the Mexican resteraunt on the right behind the "bar." ~$14/year I think.

c-money. if you go on a weekday, and it is not during a gorge-based concert, you can get by without the pass. they never check during those times(sic)...

Sweet, thanks! I actually tried to pick one up in George, but could not find anyone selling them there... the place that ryanb lists above didn't have them (or so they said) and told me to go to Quincy too. So I had no luck in Vantage or George, and didn't want to spend the time to drive to Quincy, so I went without and all was well... I would have rather played by the rules and bought the parking pass, but they sure don't make it easy for someone traveling through to pick one up. Maybe that is what they want. I would have gladly put money into a pay-station, if there was one... oh well... Anyone know of any places west of Vantage selling the parking passes?

I know this is a post from '08, and it's '11 now, but I last purchased the required fish/wildlife pass at a Fred Meyer store in Seattle. I believe REI sells 'em too.
