I wouldn't mind getting into target/clay shooting. But I'm not a hunter.

The psycho bitch decided she did not want to be in the hospital anymore. The hospital staff decided that she was staying. And I didn't exactly have time to bust out the camera phone.
I wonder if I got called a psycho bitch when I was in the hospital. Er.....I wasn't what you'd call an idea patiant those first couple of weeks.
It's possible, but I don't think you were a bitch to them. Just out of it. The nurse in ER just said you were "combative"

heh.
storytime!
She is a pretty bad patient. It gets worse when they give her morphine. I think that was when she was combative. She also likes to pull out tubes.

I did the same thing. Tubes are not supposed to be inside you!

Yeah, I'm picking up on that.

All that time wasted being jealous of you.Crazy

Guess I'll just have to be happy with being jealous of L'Habitant's rich kids pool.
When I was a kid, living in a middle class neighbourhood, there were only 2 families with pools. I remember having to be really nice to those kids to get an invite into their pool. So, I decided that when I had kids, as soon as the bank would give me money, they were getting a pool. I didn't want them to have to grovel like I did just to keep cool.

We have a pool.
We aren't rich.
You can all come swimming.
Party at Wanders house. Can you grill us some steaks too?

*Shootz cow*
I can now.
Do you know how to butcher a cow.

More importantly, do you know where the good steak comes from?

Nope.
That's why you're coming.
I've never butchered a cow. I do know where the good meat on a deer is though.

That cow is going to be rotten by the time we get there. You'll need to gut it, skin it, and hang it someplace cold so it can start aging. Then it should be okay.

No. close by. The crag is on our property. No one knows about it. I'm a lucky little bastard.

We shot in a different spot.

Yeah, talk about ironic. 96 degrees outside and the route was wet.Crazy It gets a lot of shade, but I thought it would have dried out since the rain last week. We still had a fun time, though.
Where are the pics?

And it sounds like it might get some ice in the winter.

Didn't get any.
I actually got some good ones of a crag in Maryland. My friend rapped in from above and shot some, Just Like The Magazines.Laugh

Maybe i will post some of those.
Didn't getany pics, ice ,or both?

Both. I am going to get some pix soon, though. I don't have any of that area.

I thought it would get ice since it does have a tendancy to be damp, but it doesn't.
Perhaps it does on certain years?

Could you run a hose?

My friend did that in college. I haven't been home the last few winters to try it. Maybe this year?
If you are still traveling you should just travel your way to the Rockies instead.

This is true....I assume. I know people from NS and NB make trips down to Acadia there as one of the closer places in the states for rock. How is it over there?

Camden isn't bad...but Acadia is the Maine (get it?) place for climbing in Maine. I've never been there!

My statement wasn't entirely accurate, as when it comes to climbing, NH and Maine are the same state in my mind, since I do all my climbing in NH.

The crag near my house is pretty good granite, though. Granite is great.

That has nothing to do with how fresh it is. That is how it is raised. Unless you are talking preservatives. I don't know if they can do that with raw meat.
I know nothing about meat processing. I just know the ones in the grocery store are not all natural. They even put something on ground beef so it doesn't go brown while sitting there.

Okay, yeah they do put something on hamburger. I think its more of a coloring thing than a preservative though.

Most meat you buy at the store is full of hormones and other crap though. There is a certain amount of drugs that need to be given to livestock to keep them healthy. I'm not sure if the necessity is less on smaller farms.

Our friend Neil has suggested a few of us getting together and buying a cow from his parents. His roommate is a butcher and could do the cutting. I would assume three of us would buy it and then then it would get split into four groups and the butchering would be payment.

My mom used to always get beef from my grandparents.

You don't need to be a hunter to hunt. Just like you don't need to be a climber to climb. Deer meat is awesome. And really cheap if you can hunt near where you live and process it yourself.

Yes, above ground.
I do target practice after climbing far away from the crag no one knows about. I pick up teh shell casings and teh targetz 2.

Yes, that's my story too.... sprinkler attached to the hose... oh, and one Christmas I got a Slip 'n' Slide.... essentially a long-ass piece of plastic you covered in detergent and ran water down it to slide on. Awesome!!! Who needs a pool when you can get grass stains on your chin?!?!

....yes.... we have Christmas in summer!
Detergent?

Like dish soap?

Just water worked pretty good. Perhaps it was the only way your mother could get you to bathe?
Snap!!!
Laugh

I mean really....

Who else put detergent on their slip and slide?

I dunno. My parents could only afford that cheap black plastic you use for painting projects. We only used a hose and more often than not the plastic - being black - was super hot regardless of how much water we put on it. It was good until about the 5th or 6th slide when it would tear and we'd have a rock go through our chest - living in the desert isn't really conducive for lawns. We had one, but it was thin and brown most of the time.

My pool involved a 1/4 mile walk to a pond. This pond had multiple vehicles - cars, jeeps, motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and a school bus - in it. I didn't swim much there. No one in my subdivision of 250 houses had a pool. If you could call it a pool, it was more than likely a horse trough, or one of those 10" deep plastic thingys.
spent my fair share of time in those as a kid. It was my job to make sure they were always full, so I made sure to enjoy my work from time to time.

'course, there was always the pool I'd make myself when I dammed up the creek flowing through the front 40. No diving allowed, and that water was COLD!

When there was water to be had it was nice. The best pond around, though, was a 2 mile bike ride. It was fed by a wonderful cool spring. The water was clean enough that a few goldfish that were released into the pond lived for years. That place I miss. The other one, not so much.
Well, i DID grow up in the Pacific Northwest, where many of those born there develop webbed feet in the early years of their life. Luckily I was born in Kansas i guess, but an even larger stroke of luck was not having to grow up there. This was impressed upon us chillins during our early teen years, during the family vacation one summer in the mid-80's. TFG!

Damn, Kansas huh?

That would have made it hard to get into climbing.
i dintz get into climbing till the end of my first "career".

Have you seen Kansas? ATV's and shootz gunz, thats about all there is to do there. Oh, an maybez some fishin' from time to time, after the livestock are fed and milked and fed again.

SOOOO lucky i dint grow up on that milk-farm.

My mom used to always get beef from my grandparents.
Growing up on a horse ranch, my dad would purchase a young steer in the spring. I'd get have to feed it all summer long, till late in the fall the butcher-man would drive up in his mobile meat machine, put a .22 Mag between it's eyes and do the work right there. He'd hoist the quarters into the truck, cart it off to his cutting shop, and voila`! three weeks later we'd pick up a freezer full of beef all wrapped in waxed paper.

There are a certain amount of antibiotics which are prudent to give to the young steer, much like we all get childhood vaccinations because it's the thing that helps keep us healthy. However, after the initial dose the only thing we would feed it was good hay and as much mineral from the salt-lick as he had a mind to taste.

There's something to be said for raising your own beef, yes.

So, I decided that when I had kids, as soon as the bank would give me money, they were getting a pool. I didn't want them to have to grovel like I did just to keep cool.

We have a pool.
We aren't rich.
You can all come swimming.
An above ground pool?

You do go do target practice while out climbing.

Yes, above ground.
I do target practice after climbing far away from the crag no one knows about. I pick up teh shell casings and teh targetz 2.

That was actually only the second time I've shot a (real) gun.

I climbz with WMD. Cutz the rope. And shootz him in teh face to make sure he's dead.

WMD show me sekret krag! I'll bring teh gunz!
