Hi guys i recently started doing the crossfit training. Been doing it a couple of weeks now and I really enjoy it. (scaled version of the actual Wods - just doing easier version leaves me puking).

I was wondering if anyone else does crossfit and how the hell you fit it in with regular climbing?

A better question might be if anyone knows how to use the search functionTongue

I heard crossfit is pretty good. My buddies and I have developed something we like to call WYW or Wreck Yourself Wednesday to supplement or climbing and weight training. It not only increases our power endurance, but also our pain threshold and builds camaraderie. See http://pullharder.org for documentation of our workouts.

I've been doing Crossfit for about 2 and a half years and enjoy it. It is no climbing panacea, however. You'll still need to do some climbing-specific training, but it's a great way to maintain a great base of fitness and it's fun.

There are some Crossfit haters on this site--I'm sure they'll pipe in soon enough.

No need to find posts from 1679. If you look again, you'll probably find at least 3-4 from just the last 6-9 months. Do you think Crossfit has somehow changed since then? Wink

Interesting website, if you don't mind my asking, what are 'flesh storms' and 'south of heaven'? Given the names, they ought to be good.

Manmakers:
You take 2 25 lb dumbells
Do a pushup, then while you are still in the pushup position lift up the left arm, then the right arm. Jump to your feet and press the dumbells over your head.

Fleshstorm:
We have a sled filled with gravel that is connected with webbing to a backpack. You put on the backback and run to a specified location and then turn around and run back (if you do this fast enough its a great way to enduce vomit).

South of Heaven:
We have another sled filled with gravel attached to a 30M climbing rope with knots in it. We hand over hand the sled from a sitting position.

I tried Crossfit and liked it. It definitely helps for aerobic conditioning and to build general fitness. I find, however, that I can't fit it in with work, climbing, and running. *shrug*

Rob Miller swears by it. His point is that crossfit emphasizes powerful extension of the hip, from which all climbing movements should originate.
