OK I got another noob question and I thank you in advance for any help Petzl website sizing says Small- 27.5-32 inches Med- 30- 35.5 inches I have a 31 inch waist. So which one? Is it better to be at the top end of sizing or the bottom? Thanks again.

The truthful answer is that no one can tell you for sure and the best way to find out would be to try both sizes. The two sizes differ not only in waist sizing, but most likely also differ a little bit in parameters such as the rise and the leg loops. If I had to make my best guess, I'd say go with one size up, especially if you are a male. I am not sure what made you choose this particular harness, but if this is your first harness, then, if at all possible, go to a store, try on a bunch of harnesses, hang in them, and choose the most comfortable one.

i agree. hang in them and check the gear loop position and such. padding size increases with size aswell, so i would definetly try before buying. Make sure its "straight" as well, i find myself in the middle between M and L in petzl sizing and the belay loop / gear loops are always offset on me

Thanks for the info. Yup it's my first one. I went to the gym and tried a bunch on. The medium adjama was the most comfortable. I don't love the gear loops on it though...kinda hard to find. But it just had the best feel. I bought it so I guess I'll stick with it for a while:)

I'm 31.5" waist and went with the medium size adjama. I figured in case I ever climbed when it was chilly and had to layer up under my harness i'd rather be at the bottom end of the spec. Thats my thought process but definitely go hang in em at the store.

I had 1st bought the medium and then decided to go down to a small. I'm roughly a 31" waist but the medium just felt "off". the small works much better for me

Completely off topic, but I read the title as "Adjuma sizing". An Adjuma is a busy-body middle-aged Korean housewife, which would have added a whole new meaning to things. And now we return you to your previous programming...

Well... I'm not sure what the perfect size "adjuma" is either. I guess I'll have to try a bunch on and see which one the feels the best.

Remember that if you're gonna be climbing in cold weather, you want to leave room for puffy clothes underneath, so maybe you want the bigger one. I also find the gear loops to be offset on my Petzl harness. I'm gonna look out for that next time I buy a harness.

I have a 31 waist and went with the small after trying on the small and medium sizes. The medium felt loose when fully cinched. Very satisfied with the performance of the small.

You will want the small. I was between the med and L sizes and I went with the L b/c it was the only one they had in stock. Needless to say, it did not come close to fitting. When I went to return the harness, the person I talked to said that they had this problem a lot with the petzl harnesses.
