Hey all, My girlfriend and I are planning a climbing vacation in Vegas. I am under 25 and as such have been encountering singificant charges at car rental companies. We are trying to figure out how to procure some sort of transporation to go climbing while staying in a hotel in the city. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If you get a cab to the campground then you can definitely find folks going to wherever you are and just hitch rides. When are you going?

Stay away from the rental company Dollar Rent-a-car. They'll give you one price over the phone and then when you get there they tack on a whole shit load of fees and taxes that you thought were included in the original price.

Otherwise, you're just asking to be surprised and a little screwed over.

Actually, call UHaul. They rent to those under 25. You could rent a small uhaul truck for the few days you are in vegas. Heck, if it's big enough you could sleep in it.

I rented from Dollar at the Vegas airport just recently and it was great. Rented an SUV so I could get into Black Velvet and total cost was around $14 a day including all taxes and fees. Had it for 3 days, returned it on the strip and was billed a grand total of $45. As far as being underage, I think we rented from a company called rent-a-wreck when I was younger down there and they just charged a few extra bucks for those under 25.
