Hi Peru climbers,

I'm coming to Peru in June and I'm looking for some climbing near Lima or some boulder anywhere.

Is there a route book or directions to get to these routes? Please fill me in. Thanks everybody.

A.J.

I didn't get any replies, but I went there and found some good places. I met some guys at a climbing gym in miraflores, and they took me to a place with them. It was wonderful sport climbing, although the belaying was a bit dangerous sometimes. Do you need any information about climbing there?

http://www.basecampperu.com/index.htm

That is the indoor gyms website. I went there for a training session one day and met a guy named Raynir. He spoke a little bit of english and invited me climbing with him.

I don't think the routes were listed anywhere online because I checked vigilantly before I left. But go to the gym and they can hook you up and possibly take you.

Most of the routes I climbed were 5.10a's and b's and 5.8's for my girlfriend. However, we took a look at some routes that were 5.12 and 5.13 about 100meters from where we were climbing our routes.

They were safe lines, properly bolted and anchored. They were much better than the routes I climbed in Huaraz which often had no anchors and I had to clean from one loose bolt as an anchor. I didn't feel safe on those at all.

Hope that helps.
