whoa whoa whoa.
com'on now. The legS this is a bit harsh. Perhaps only one?
Or maybe a near miss would be better.
Anyways, nice one, and ditch the toprope soon.
(BTW, try noit to be so look-at-me, it's a little annoying).

September 2007. Yeah, and you're such a veteran. I can't think of many posts of yours I've read where you're not brown-nosing some veteran or trying to act like one.

OP: Good luck on the sharp end!

Great man.

However, I'll sum up what people are trying to say, without being as much of a dick, "Nobody cares."

Share your first mock lead with your friends, I'm sure they're stoked for you.

People I guess just get sick of people posting (for recognition or whatever motivates you to post) whenever something noteworthy to those people happen--whether that be a mock lead, or more often, climbing 5.10 in the gym.

But yeah, I suppose you're getting the message.

I guess no one really understood what I was really going for from the beginning... I was expressing how excited I am to just get more into climbing. Sure just getting into trad.. but I wasn't out for a pat on the back. I don't need that to feel good about climbing. I was only saying "Hey.. I love rock climbing!" and you spit in its face (climbing that is) so for all you people who were "assholes" just keep that in mind next time some "noob" posts. Thats all RC.com is.. dumb repetitive questions.. how about you go outside and do what you love instead of chat about it.

Ok now I'm done that post bash it you assholes! Or go outside and have fun!

Get over your self, or go post in the ladies room if you want a more warm and fuzzy responce.

Yup, you're excited, but in the end you were just top roping. Its hard to get excited about top roping in a trad climbing forum. I don't see why that's so hard to understand.

If you want us to get excited you need to actually start talking about trad climbing. Maybe tell us about the trad climbs that you're planning on getting on next. Heck, I know the area and the climbs, I could even make some suggestions for your first trad climb (Piece of Duff at Buffalo is a good one for the beginning leader).

Don't let it get ya down there dude. Razzing noobs is part of the trad gig too. Back in the day noobs were razzed by being roped to pickup trucks and dragged through cactus thickets, so be grateful for the internet!

Be sure to post up when you do a traditional lead of some climb. A traditional lead is where you start at the BOTTOM of a climb and lead it through without weighting the rope (cept for belays - and even that was debatable once, believe it or not). Removable protection may come into play, bolts might be clipped too.

No hangs! No pullin on pro! Start at the bottom, climb to the top. That's traditional lead climbing my friend.

Good luck!

Cheers
DMT

Trad climbing? That's where you only use the holds that are taped the same color right? I'm not into that. I use ALL the holds, that way I'm not trapped by stuffy traditional conventions. I climb 50 ft gym routes using 93 holds, now that is skill!

And maybe I can find some trad pro to place in trees....... I know this sweet magnolia with a sweet overhang and the perfect place for a heel hook, but I can't find any $100 cams that would work! I would try it with the bouldering pad, but the guys at the gym say your not allowed to boulder over 10ft and the tree is like 20ft so it looks pretty sketchy to me.

Did I mention that the heel hook is above my head, the park didn't make me sign a climbing waiver, and I am not fully (just slightly) aware of the dangers inherent to the sport of climbing.

Rob,
I get a sense your actually a pretty funny guy. Honestly though, how far do you have to drive for decent climbs? I would imagine it must be several hours, bummer
