Um, you're fine?

When I first started doing a lot of trad climbing my "complete" rack didn't have very small or large cams either. Its not a problem to start off like this. Just learn to read the rock (or at least a guide book) and don't get on anything that requires the gear you don't have.

Knowledge how to use all the stuff that you already have. Then start leading on what you have and you'll soon figure out what other pieces you may want to add to your rack. A lot of people on here started out with much smaller racks.

Correct^^^ and buy some TCU's. They won't keep you from dying (nothing can) but you will look cooler, lying in the pool of blood.

The TCUs are a fairly cost effective way of increasing your small pro range. The boxed set 1-4 is around 165$. Small nuts could be useful too (I use my DMM/WC #1-3 a lot, that's roughly BD #4-6) and that's like 1.5oz and 20$.

Climb some routes. Make a note when you think to yourself "man, I should have a piece for this." When you've said that a bunch of times, you'll figure out what you need.

Don't listen to these guys, they're always like this.

For Jtree I'd definately pick up a full set of hexes, I use those things all the time. Maybe double up on the med-large ones. I find tricams work well in all the horizontal cracks at Jtree, those things are everywhere!

For Tahquitz you're going to want doubles in camalots 4-6, and maybe a big bro or two.

I'm glad you got the BD stopper #14, most people don't. That thing is a lifesaver. For reals.

Hey thanks a lot, that was exactly what I was looking for. Although I thought hexes weren't generally good for jtree due to flaring shallow cracks? As for some of the others here, it's pretty obvious these people get off on acting like elitist pricks, it fulfills a sense of importance they lack in real life. Thanks again to the others!

Take care,
Nate

I can't believe he fell for that shit.
In all honesty, the best idea is just to check out what other people have on their racks whereever you are climbing, see what the general trend ios then follow.
