Some friends and I are going to go climbing there in a couple weeks. It's going to be our first outdoor experience so we are pretty psyched.

The only thing that we are wondering is what gear to take.

We know that M. Wells it top rope only (we have a rope), and we also know that there are top rope bolts in place, but we don't know what that means. We don't know if we need to set up our own anchors with webbing or what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, apologies if this is in the wrong section.

You will need to set up your own anchors and if they are incorrect that can be very dangerous. I would recommend finding a guide and going with him/her for a day and learning about anchors for top rope. It may appear to cost some (The more of you who go the cheaper it is), but I wouldn't put a dollar on your safety there.

Let me know when yall are planning on going out. I have been to mineral wells a couple times and have the gear to set up a anchor as well as a rope so maybe we could get two routes going.

To answer your question your going to need a lot of webbing because the bolts are placed pretty far back from the edge.

It's usually better to just use like an 80' static rope then in that situation.
