Though it's not my "favorite" place, I drive about 10 minutes to Camelback mountain in Phoenix every lunch break to boulder around or set up a TR and use a soloist.

I drive about 2 to 2.5 hours away. With no hike up to a 30 min hike depending where I want to climb.

30 min - 1 hr for local stuff (Moore's, Sauratown, Pilot, Stone) 1-2 trips/week

2-3.5 hrs for close stuff (Linville, Shiprock, Rumbling Bald, Looking Glass, Boozoo, New River) 4-5 trips/year

6 hrs for SE road trips (Obed, T-Wall, Red River) 1-2 trips/year

Hiking times are about 10 min - 1 hour depending on the area.

I get out about once a week.

I guess I lucked out on my location, I live in downtown salt lake city, and have hundreds of crags within a half hour drive, my favorite areas are in moab which is like 3 1/2 hours away. I get out climbing usually 2 to 3 times per week.

I'd trade places with just about all of you, 'cept the cajun and SE flatlander...

seneca's about 7 hours, gunks upwards of 10 for me, which I'll make as many weekends as possible year round. 'daks 10-12, anything beyond that eats up another travel day.

What I climb most is 20-25 minute drive and 1-10 minute hike. Not great climbing, but close enough to get in some routes at lunch or after work. They also ice up in the winter.

We have some better stuff 1 to 1 1/2 hours away.

And what I've really wanted to climb is 2 hr drive, 2 hr boat trip and 2 mile hike. Still haven't gotten out there this summer.

How about Houston? Tongue

I remember climbing on some chunk of rock somewhere in the U.P., but it was much too long ago for me to remember where it was.

For me, it's an hour drive to the closest rock and a 10 minute walk or about 2 hours to 3 hours for crags actually worth going to.

Zion national park is a 15 minute drive to the entrance, then it just depends on where I wanna climb. Climbed in the main canyon last night after work and it probably took 35 minutes to get to the Cerberus crag.

If I drive through the night it takes me about 50 hours (+/- 15 hours) to get to the Gunks. Which is really the only place in the US worth climbing.

I bet you actually escape to your climbing more then me, though.

Ahhh, that were the case before I got the bright idea of starting a business. Worst thing to ever happen to my climbing.Mad

150 yards walking by the trail - 100 yards if I am prepaired to risk a broken ankle due to rocky terrain. Never really bothered to measure the time....

Anywhere from ten minutes to a half hour. When friends come into town and want to climb at Summersville Lake, I often bitch and moan about having to drive a freaking half hour to get there. Mad

True but really its more an issue of doing the work (regular hours) and paperwork (afterhours/weekends), than it is the type of work.

Yeah I know, bitch, bitch, bitch. Everyone else has jobs and families and still makes it out to climb. How I'll never know, a wife and kids would end me right now.

Jellus!!!

It'd be about a three hour drive to E-Rock from here.... I could scramble around on a few conglomerate boulders here on the ranch.... if it wasn't for the rattlesnakes. Pirate
