I was just thinking that...
"where is she?".
However, that is some nice looking ice.
Magnus' assumption: climbed up the rock to gain ice fang. But rock looks chossy as mince?
what gives?

Hmm, maybe getting a brighter jacket would help my cause......

I think a better photographer might help more than the jacket...

We just had a hailstorm here, so there is plenty of ice in the garden at the moment, but i guess that doesnt count.
So for the conditions: Baden Württember, Germany: Summer. no ice climbing in sight.

But even in winter there ice none. Or at least normally and legaly.
Heres a few crappy cellphone shots from last years spectacular conditions two days before christmas.

And one week later in Kandersteg CH it got much better (apart from the 3 hour drive right after new years eve). So heres some ice pr0n for your viewing pleasure:

Hopefully i will get some ice in two weeks.

last week, I camped out at a site near Rawlins, on a portaledge hung from my truck's rack. The wind howled off the continental divide, i shivered in my 40deg. bag for a while, till I just couldn't stand it any more and jumped up to throw on a pair of sweat pants.

...and the other day I noticed the geese starting to fly about in formation, as if they're warming up for the longer flight coming up... making sure the youngsters know what's expected of them.

gotta order my new tools and ropes tomorrow.

yes, it's rapidly approaching, though still just far enough away to get the gear in order with a little time to spare.

I once spent the weekend after Columbus day wading through fluffy thigh deep snow on Mt Washington, have climbed Pinnacle prior to Nov.1st, and last year ran up Shoestring before thanksgiving. By my count it just might be less than 60 days away....................

Which if it happens again means 3 years of touching snow/ice 8 months of the year.

It seems that way. I am going to head out next weekend and give it a go. Although if the snow sticks around I will be just as happy.

i've brought over wine and whiskey from overseas before i was 21....it worked every time. thought that was BEFORE 2001 and all the added shite that occurs in customs. i'm also a us citizen, so probably had it easier

that being said, i'm an isle of jura drinker myself, though can't find it here stateside.

when i was living in edinburgh though i did have an inkling that was going to be the case, so i made sure to make up for it by drinking a few years worth while there Cool
