I got us and uk citezenship, so shouldn't be too bad, but still, can't you get busted just for having it? Maybe I could, like, have it gift wrapped and say it was from my mother to an old friend?

Being underage, you are not allowed to even posses olcohol, and you think the customs guy wouldn't jumpz at the opportunity to snag a $100 bottle of the amber goodnezz?

I travel back and forth from Scotland at least 3 or 4 times a year and every time I have a few bottles of whisky in my bag. no customs officer is going to care if you have a few bottles in your bag, he's more interested in the guy with 2 kilos of black tar heroin. the only thing I'm ever concerned about is the bottles breaking in my check bags, so I surround them in bubble wrap. as far as getting busted goes, just try not to be stupid.

sungam wrote: what kind of shit do you get in for having booze under age? can't be fucked getting in shit over the cost of mail. liquor laws fall to the state, so it depends on where you'll be. a fine is almost guaranteed if you're charged with under age drinking. possession may be more lenient, and I'd like to believe most officers would let you go. stricter states may suspend your drivers license and require you attend AA classes, but that doesn't apply to you. I think the only problem you would run into is customs issues, that's when they would confiscate any alcohol or tobacco you bring into the country. but since that's a federal issue they can't actually charge you with any under age violations. if you send something by mail mark it as a "Rare Collectible Malt" and it might make it though customs. or call Royal Mile Whiskies and they'll find a way to get it to the states for you if you buy through them.

Twice I had booze confiscated while crossing the border, no fines just a lecture from the customs officials. I wouldn't worry, usually the customs officials never realized I was under age. I mean who's doing math when 200 people just exited a plane. While traveling in America it is all dependent upon the state, and most are pretty strict. However, if you never show your US passport and only go by your British they may let you go with warnings.
