Sup people some climbers climb for girls or money but i climb to be close to the rock and feel its energy. there is no real satisfaction when u get to the top the top is just the top. the top is supported by whats between the top and botoom so thats where u should focus- in the middle. in the middle of climbing u find in the adventure, excitment and energy. im writing about this in my philosphopy class and what it means to be human. to be human simply feel the tickle of the grass beneath your feet or the indifference of the rock where heart lies. and who ever said bacteria grow from damp and darkness in my shoe thread is a dumb ass.

so i can only assume you wrote all that to get a reaction. her you go; I don't follow all that existential bull crap. I climb because its fun, its challenging and sometimes it scares the crap out of me. I climb because reaching the top is always rewarding, I succeeded in accomplishing a challenging goal. not because I'm in love with the rock, in tune with mother-freaking-nature or on a journey of some kind. And your shoes do smell because of the bacteria which grows in damp dark places (such as the inside of your shoes).

Tthanks dude i find it offensive patmay: u are climbing for the wrong reasons. do a soul search and u will see fundamnetlly something larger for a driving force that compells you to to climb.

Youa caint spall wright 2. bacteria grow in warm, moist places: your fucking shoes. 3. I climb for the wrong reasons! Go fuck yourself. 4. why do you climb? Oh yeah "new age crap, blah blah blah" Good for you. Do you want a cookie? 5. You sound like a tool when you can't type. 6. You sound like a bigger tool when you tell somebody that they are climbing for the wrong reasons, especially when he climbs for fun. I would be willing to bet the 100 dollars (that I don't even have in my checking account) that 90% of the poeple on this website climb for fun. 7. You are a tool.

Tthanks dude i find it offensive patmay: u are climbing for the wrong reasons. do a soul search and u will see fundamnetlly something larger for a driving force that compells you to to climb. thanks for the advice. my soul searching is usually left for prayer and church. I may pray while I climb, but I don't climb in order to pray. There is no spirituality in rock climbing for me, that does not mean that you enjoy climbing more than me. It only means that you think a lot more about what climbing means to you than I do. I climb because I love it... and that's it. But it is a largely individual activity, so each person has to decide why he/she does it (to each their own). oh, and I've never met anyone who has climbed for girls (other than to get rid of them) or money (other than to spend it).

Aceto, just because you come up with some esoteric idea doesn't mean you're talking philosophy. In fact, what you're talking about sounds more like religion. It is the words of Patmay and Irregular Panda that ring more of the likes of Satre and Dewey.

think about it those who climb up and sit in everst traffic jam realize that all the hardship and hardwork is the most rewarded because it enable them to the top to see beuatiful things.

Can I be daoist? let me go for take 2: OK: Aceto: those with clouded eyes cannot see the rain. those with deafened ears cannot hear the complaints of the masses. those who climb with effort only succeed at trying. the virtuous soul is like water; water nurtures all things. water is pliant water resides in lowly places. aceto is a douchebag, for he tries to cleanse the dirt from our wizard sleeves. If he only let the flow cleanse our wizard sleeves on it's own, could he know the true satisfaction of inaction. Aceto is a tool, for he is used, but is of no use to himself. Aceto is a moron, for he tries to inflict his philosophy on others, instead of letting them be. The best rulers govern with inaction.

I've recently read a couple of autobiographies on people who have climbed Everest. one was the Burgess brothers biography (they've climbed several 8,000ers). The general consensus was that if you climb big mountains to get to the top, you'll probably die. If you climb big mountains to get back down alive you'll probably survive. it was really cool to read about these guys who just loved climbing... all the time. not for some higher purpose, but because it was fun. the reward in climbing is not getting to the top, or in climbing itself (the journey or "middle" as you refer to it). the reward is challenging yourself and surviving- after all survival is the only real success. now im getting all existential, dammit your rubbing off!!!!!
