We built this in a detached garage over the summer. Currently it totals about 360 square feet.

Your basement looks pretty empty.

Here's my wall!
But I warn you, you might get j3luz!!!
Here's the wall in version 4, my home made HIT strips!

Here's a view of the home-made HIT strips. They worked pretty well but I snapped all the footholds, I had tried mass-making them in a new way and it really didn't work.

Here's the vertical wall (AKA the one move wonder)

But don' worry, it has a roof section right after it

Here's a close up of the pockets I made

Wooo!
Spent like 30 bucks on it :)
I also have a metolius simulator hanging from one of the rafters.

Wow, as I looked at these pics, I looked 10 feet to the left at my oversized, underused living room that opens all the way to the second floor ceiling and thought to myself, "how mad could the wife possibly get?"

BAD, BAD influence!

Damnit. I can't get a pic imbeded in my post.

Anyway I'm building my fourth home wall. Here's a cartoon of my progress so far... if the link works.

http://www.rockclimbing.com/...gym_plan_103324.html

I think I have gym building OCD. I've built four in 6 years and I built/owned a commercial gym. I think I have a plywood addiction. I hate bouldering though. It's the weirdest thing...

This is the wall I built this summer in my garage. It is about 300 square feet, 10.5 ft high. The angles are (l to r) vert, 15, 30 , 20. I already have a lot of ideas for expansion.

Wink NIce walls guys! I built my first indoor wall back in 1989-90, in a barn hayloft. It was 28 ft.high, and total 78 ft. wide. Back then, there were no guidelines or directions on how to properly build a wall. There were only a couple companies making good holds back then. Entrepris, Metolius, CARP, US Sportstone, Petrogrips, Boulder Holds, etc. Most were very very small holds, crimpers; alot were smaller than a 4" square. Lots of tendonitis from those wicked routes, that's for sure. The design the companies suggested was for an offset grid where t-nuts were placed about a foot apart in straight lines. Talk about wasted space and lack of originality. Eventually I made up my own additions and features to the walls. I still believe it was the largest private indoor wall anywhere east of the Rockies for many years back then. Photos are from early 90's, before final paintjob and larger holds were added. Lots of steep 5.11 face moves on it.
Have since moved outdoors, and have a climbing tower in my back yard instead. Much more comfy than in that 100 degree hayloft in the summer.

Any one have plans or pictures of a free standing wall, I want to build a wall in my basement but can't attach it to anything. Any one have any ideas. Also any thoughts on how to make it stable. My biggest fear it that it will move to much.

Sorry it's not a very good pic. I built this freestanding woodie in my basement. Basically a box built with 4"x4"s for the bottom and the corner posts, 2"x8"s around the top. The "rafters" were 2x4, the two plywooded walls were studded (2x4, 18" centered). The angled sheets were attached to 2x4s cut to fit the desired angle. This monster didn't touch anything but the floor and never swayed a bit.

If you need a little more specific help pm me.
