i thought this post was asking what the world's longest routes were... something i've often wondered.
That would depend on your definition of a route. Some routes are thousands of miles long. Just think of a linkup between every peak in the alps. I wonder if that has been done? I doubt it- seriously, seriously doubt it.
FA here ! come!!!
Would you really have the first ascent? I mean, if the peaks have been climbed, and seeing as the history of climbing in Europe is several chapters longer than the one in the US, I doubt that you'd be doing a "new route." Rather, it'd be a long journey repeating some of the oldest and famed routes in the world.
True. It would get a lot of press, though, and now doubt Aceto would be cringing at the ladys I'd be gettin.
There are several grand tours in the alps, varying from a 'good week' to major expeditions. Martin Moran did 75 peaks in 52 days (Alps 4000. David and Charles 1994) and there have been several recent journeys, without mechanical assistance, covering huge numbers of alpine peaks, some in ridiculously fast times. UKClimbing.com has some reports in the old news section. I suppose the next stage will be an Himalaya Traverse with similar objectives to the Alpine ones.
wow, someones really trying to get this thread going. I'm much to lazy to contribute a real post, and frankly I don't care about this route list as it does no good for anything, but way to go churningindawake.
