Who wants to be a conqueror this Monday in celebration of that Italian explorer-CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS!! I've got a guidebook, plenty of gear: 2 full racks a 70 meter rope and have just started leading Gunks 5.9s - thereby opening a WHOLE NEW world to explore!!! If anyone's interested - email me: ckirkwood9@yahoo.com

And remember to take the back roads to and from New Paltz. etc, etc, etc Actually, the weather looks great. I'm sure you'll have a good day even with the Columbus Day crowds. Just expect them to be bad and you won't be disappointed. T

(maybe I should take this as a hint) :) Not everyone, just 25 % of USA and ALL of Canada. But maybe the stricter border crossings will keep them home this year Just kidding (for all my Canadian friends). Seriously, the harmonic convergence of Candian Thanksgiving Day, Columbus Day, prime leaf season, and the climbing film festival create quite the crowds in New Paltz on this weekend. Hope it's not Parent's Day at SUNY New Paltz too! T
