I'm just wondering what the rules are with dogs at Smith. I'm planning an extended trip for the spring and am considering settling in Smith for a while... provided good, well behaved dogs aren't prohibited. Thanks!

Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6' (I think). They also need to be under your physical control at all times. Not tied to a pack/fence/tree. The fine is around $90.
Just paraphrasing from memory. I'll see if I can find more exact info.

Edit: the official word on pets in oregon state parks. Hey, I was pretty close! You'll probably be able to get away with not holding your dog's leash every second you're in the park...

Hey Brohan! Dogs are majorly allowed at smith, they are little bros, you know. Don't forget your puffy coat, and a huge stickclip, and you will adequately meet the needs of the brohan tri-fecta.

No seriously, as long as your dog is well behaved, and as long as you don't spend a lot of time in front of The dihedrals, morning glory, christian brothers, or the red point, then you might be able to bend those rules he mentioned. Remember, rangers don't like to explore the trails as much as the bros do.
