contact lenses, you sickos!
I don't know how you soft lens people do it. I've been trying to get these things out of my eye for the last half hour and would probably be considered legally blind if I were to take a vision test right now. Forget about getting behind the wheel of a car. I'm supposed to leave them in for 4 hrs to get used to them, but they keep shifting so that all of a sudden I can't even make the faces out our wedding pictures.
Been wearing hard contacts for the last 10 years due to astigmatism. Apparently the suction can start to pull off your cornea, which I guess isn't a good thing. So when I started seeing blurry, the doc said I needed to give my eyes a rest and go to soft.
Soft contact lenses are about 4x the size of what I'm used to putting in my eye. They're all floppy, soft and hard to manage. And to take them out you actually have to put your fingers in your eyes? I used to get mine out by just pulling on the side of my eye and popping them out with my eyelids.
Guess I may be sticking with my glasses for the rest of my life! Now excuse me as I try to find my way back to the bathroom so I can attempt to continue to gouge my eyes out.

So your big problem with them is taking them in and out?
I would sugest looking at laser eye surgery but I don't think you'd be able to handle it!

You'll get used to them. Trust me, they're WAY more comfy than hard lenses, but I can't wear hard lenses without feeling them the instant they hit my eye.
The odd thing is that once you go soft...

aww hang in there I've had soft Torics for years now and they definitely take a few days to get used to , but you will. Once you get over the feel of sticking fingers in your eye they are easy to pinch and pop out .

Stare past the end of your finger when you're taking them out. Find a point in space about 12 inches past your fingertip, focus on that, and taking them out is a snap.
I'm saving to get laser surgery next year... I've been wearing glasses or contacts for damn near 35 years. Kinda tired of it.

Yes, that and seeing! Everything keeps going funhouse on me without warning.

I think for astigmatism, they actually remove the lens of your eye. Nope, I'm not up for that !

I can give myself IV injections, self administer catheters but the thought of putting something in my eye. . . EEP! Keep it away! 
If my eyes decide to go to crap I am so getting laser surgery!

All that I'm saying is that as far as contacts go: So far small and hard is better than big, floppy and soft!

With diabetes you are more likely to develop vision problems if you do not carefully regulate your sugar. Peripheral Vascular Disease. Bad juju.

Have you had a look at INTACS? Those seem to be the way to go for hard-lens types.

Nope - won't work for me. Those are for the nearsighted. I just have astigmatism, so everything is fuzzy close and far. Everyone has an aura!
I think I may just have a bum soft lens. My right one is perfect, my left goes all fun house mirror. Maybe I'll end up using one soft and one hard. My right was my eye of concern anyway.
I really do hate climbing with glasses though. Plus I look like a librarian!

Very true but it's been shown that once you get past 15 years without any issues you're very, very unlikely to have any. Basically if you've been doing things right for 15 years you've figured out how to properly manage your diabetes are probably going to keep on doing it right.
I'm at year 21 without any problems.

also, depending on brand, I find some are easier to get flipped inside out.. and inside out lense will trap a small air buble, screw up the fit completely...
