I think you might be better off by hiring a Troll Guide over a Climbing Guide... Tongue

do one of those mulit day training sessions with a guide.. it won't teach you everything but enough to get you a start.

I would recommend hiring a guide to take you up some easier multi pitch day routes. This way you can ask the guide questions you might have, and take in what is happening and learn from it.

Anybody got any suggestions on good places to hire guides for good multi-pitch climbing/training?

I agree with others who suggest hiring a guide. Some guides are highly trainined and certified and some are just good climbers who know how to provide a safe learning experience. Choose your guide carefully, and tip them well if you made it back safely and had a good experience.

Don't forget rule number one in climbing: you accept full responsibility for your safety. So, if while being guided, don't be afraid to ask questions about any little detail. There's often more than one good way of doing things and it is fun to discuss the options.

I highly recommend Scott Perkins as a guide for Multi-Pitch. He's in Atlanta I think. Search the SCC for 'guide'.
I took a class from him several years ago, great guy, leaned a lot.
