I charged one of my best friends $65 for hers and we agreed that it was an appropriate price. Stuff that I took into consideration: Cost of supplies: $16ish Hours put into restringing to make it a sturdy piece of necklace that won't fall apart: 6+ hours Believe it or not there is about 3 arms length worth of thread in this necklace and it's a pain to restring those tiny little beads and have to rethread the needle every two seconds! But I enjoy doing it, because I'm a sadist! But yeah, pretty much the $65 minus the cost of supplies puts my labor hours at about $8/hour. Thead? WTF? You don't use tiger tale? I even use two peaces of tigers tail most times And double the crimpers. "Tigers tail" => Small steel cable for stringing beads. I'm sure you know what I mean, I'm just asking.

This one is done with silk thread. My preferred material is 6lb. FireLine, which is just like fishing line, strong and easy to work with because it's flexible. I don't usually use the wire stuff because I prefer a stronger, sewn and creative clasp to barrels and that sort of thing. Their prettier and don't come undone very easily.

You know wonderwoman you may want to look at using musky line (strong stiff fishing line). A local jeweler uses the stuff to create necklaces of beads and small polished stone. I had the jeweler make me a necklace out of a #3 BD stopper that wound up holding me on a rather large fall. The stopper was in good shape but the cable was frayed. By the way, I was only charged $35. Granted my necklace only consists of the stopper, a nickel size stone, eight beads, and a simple clasp.

Thanks for the tip and ideas! Your necklace sounds like a pretty cool memento. It's probably a lot less labor intensive than the one that I made here.

What you have here girl is a Nutlace, not to be confused with nutless. #2 stopper is elegant not gaudy. Have anything with the dirtbag climberboy fashion look?

I like it! No climber boy fashion yet. Although I did make my husband an anniversary necklace with a Thai coin because that's where we went for our honeymoon. It's pretty cool looking and simple to make. Maybe I'll have to start working on a 'guy' line.

Barry, the guy who owns Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, used to sport an accessory cord necklace with a small nut on it. I'm not a necklace kind of guy generally, but I really liked his.

Aww, come now there're good for climbing too! That and there’re pretty good at defending yourself from your ex lovers new boyfriend. Coincidentally the sound of a number 11 Wildcountry hex slung with dinema hitting someone’s head is surprisingly similar to an aluminum bat hitting a soft ball. Ding!
