I'm afraid of paying for something other than gas to get to a rock... I'm scared the gym rats who hit on all the girls who walk in the door wont accept me. I'm scared I wont send hard on their plastic "routes" lol

I'm afraid of people who are scared to climb in a highly sanitized climbing gym. I'm also scared of REALLY shiny gear and people who take 20 minutes to tie in.

It -12 out side right now. As far as climbing in side, go with a friend to climb with and tell the guys that hit on you s/he is you b/g friend, or use a set of headphones and ingore the sleezy guys. as far as not accepting you... what is this a gang of climber, are you on there turf. or a public climbing gym?

I went indoor climbing once when I was 13 or so. I really tried to put it out of my mind, sort of pretend it never happened. Eventually I started to blame myself--I was asking for it. I should have seen it coming. Maybe it even felt kinda good. But as the years went by, I found my relationship with climbing completely dried up. Finally I took a chance at age 24 and went climbing outdoors. Since then, I've come around and accepted the fact that my friend who invited me indoor climbing was just confused and misguided. And now I can blame him...instead of continuing to blame myself. Now I occasionally climb inside, but on MY terms. I have a small wall in my garage. I can get a good workout whenever I want. But my love is outdoor climbing--the real, NATURAL way to climb. And no indoor climbing facility can ever take away my heart, my sense of self. I AM AN OUTDOOR CLIMBER and I will not be ignored.

The HIV virus can survive in the damp chalked recesses of a climbing hold pore for more than 24 hours. DMT

In reply to: 25 might be a bit to cold for trad or sport, but it's great for bouldering. Just bring a down jacket and something warm to drink. We were outside in -10C the other day. Almost too cold, but it's still doable.
