If I end up teaching physics 101 at some pissant two year community college I think I'll commit seppuku with that useless REI mountaineering axe I picked up at super-clearance.

yea... after failing a few times now at the job i went to school for i'm trying to figure out the transition to something different and it's not going well. Trying to find an Outdoor emergency care class on the E. coast is nearly impossible it seems. It's also a horrible time of the year to find a job in my original field since it's based on the school year/ sport seasons climbing and riding are about all i can do to keep my head from exploding. all of my jobs have included "and other tasks as assigned" pulling apart charts and re-ordering them for storage.. stapling, hole punching, photo copying, emptying trash/recycling, cleaning plinths, loading washer/dryers then folding, cleaning mirrors/windows, etc When i lifeguarded i used to read books for hours on end without anyone in the pool.. but guess what i was making 14/hr so i didn't complain. perhaps i should go get recert. for that again

Jake, thats a bummer, good luck man, you worked hard for that Cert. In a preveious decade...um, millenium...I was a regualr meathead at the weight gym, but in 2003 traded that drudgery for climbing. I was not able to return to the weightroom wihtout hating it... until about a month ago. ther's a littel workout room here at my daygig, and they recently tossed the original Unversal machine they'd bought, because, well, it sucked golfballs thru a garden hose. in its place they bought three new machines which are smooth-cable sweetness, and that combine with the dumbell rack, have made all the difference it seems. I actually look forward to lifting each day. it can only help my C......g, ya think? ;-)

I think everyone's too busy exercizing to learn how to competently operate a motor vehicle. It's far worse than SC.

I'm a little nervous. I have cross country skiing class this afternoon, but it's a 20 minute drive in good weather. However, the weather is not good, the roads are covered in a wet, slippery slush very similar to that of my accident. I would skip the class, except I've agreed to drive a couple of freshman who don't have cars. ugh! why didn't he just cancel the class?

Oh, yeah, I bailed on the class. Drove to the dorms to pick up the other kids and there's 8 inches on snow on the streets..VT has a policy of not plowing till the storm is over... No shit, this is the commercial I heard on the radio this morning: "Vermont doesn't have a bare roads policy, it has a slow driving policy. Stay Safe, Vermont!" I almost died like 5 times in the 2 miles to campus...got there, told the girls "Fuck it, tell him it's my fault we're skipping class." And then promptly made the dangerous return journey home. My sphincter is still up in my throat.

Just shoveled the sidewalk and drive for the third time today, then ate a steak dinner, and now I'm going to go fix a good stiff drink.
