ECU Adventure Program to Host 12th Annual Climbing Competition

Saturday, February 21st, 2009.
Registration: 11am till 12noon
Competition: 12noon.
The East Carolina University Adventure Program will host the 12th Annual Flatlander’s Fling Climbing Competition this February.
The climbing competition serves as a central gathering point for the climbers in eastern North Carolina.
For ECU students, faculty and staff with a valid ECU identification, the Flatlander’s Fling is $15. For the general public, registration is $20 for adults and $15 for students under the age of 18. Spectators are welcome.
“We host the competition,” says Pam Andrae, event organizer, “in order to promote a supportive climbing community, as well as to educate climbers on climbing access privileges.”
Competition is open to all climbers, regardless of ability level. The venue for the indoor competition is the Student Recreation Center (SRC) building on the ECU campus.
Sponsors of this year’s event are: Mountain Hardware, Liberty Mountain, National Geographic, Rock & Ice Magazine, Gripped Magazine, Kahtoola Traction Systems, Great Outdoor Provisions, Campus Recreation & Wellness and the Adventure Program

Last minute details for those interested.
We now have over $1,500 in prizes/gifts for climbers. Those who come and climb should be able to come away with something fun, cool, useful or at least edible. The first 30 get a t-shirt (color is black with a fun interesting design) also.
We'll have music and free food for all climbers and those in attendance. Pizza, donuts, fruit, gatoraid and water.
