I want one Wink
I'm sick of having to rearrange all my dirtbag dudes picks in the back of the rig which are always sticking up waiting for my pack or gore-tex products to chew up!Pirate

I picked one up on the cheap years ago when EMS closed their Chicago location.

It gets used only in two scenarios:
- In the closet for gear storage in the off-season
- In large rolling luggage as additional padding and protection (for both gear and my clothing) when flying

looks like a nice idea, no? keep all that awkward stuff packed together in one place.

expensive. but what do you think of the concept?

Neat (but expensive) concept for storage, awful concept for actually bringing anywhere to climb. There is no way I could fit that in a pack, and you can be sure I'm not carrying that thing on the approach.

My husband bought one a few years ago. Not something to haul out to the crag, but awesome for longer trips when you'll be hauling extra gear/tools/crampons to switch out to. The ice screw roll in is also removable and is a little nicer than the smaller ones you get from BD. That's what he uses to carry his screw rack to the climbs.

Yeah, I do. You can take the roll out and I use mine all the time. The suitcase part is nice when you are traveling and have a couple sets of tools and want to keep them from rattling around your trunk or suitcase, but I only use the case part a couple times a year.

seriously? keep the plastic webbing and the end cap that the screws come with and store them in covered in that on a couple of beaners or ice clippers. don't go buying some bulky-ass roll that's only designed for 6 screws. that's just dumb.

I have the BD Orange roll'em up thing and it works well IF it's full of BD screws. Throw in a Grivel 360 or Helix and you're SOL.

My partner continues to use the end caps and mesh like material which came with his BD Express's. I'm not sure how long that mesh stuff will last...

SOL with Helix Screws, how so?

I use the BD roll with Grivel Helix screw without any problem at all for the couple yeasrs that I've been using those screws.
