Is ice speed climbing more popular and respected?

Who are some top ice speed climbers?

It does sound silly but I remember watching video of an ice speed comp once. The footage was either on Black Diamond's "No Pain No Gain" DVD or Petzl's "Pitch Sorbet" DVD.

I'd look at mine to verify which but I lent both DVDs to someone a couple of years ago and never got them back (nor can I remember who I lent them to Frown)

Hey if your at APU go ask Roman...

Anycase sprint speedclimbing the way you mean it is pointless for bragging rights... fun to play with on toprope or easy free solos.

no point to it..other than fun

just like anything in climbing actually

real speed in mountaineering is about efficiency and experience and is a matter of safety...but isnt a sprint..is more like a good marathoner...
