i was wondering why the a.m.g.a doesnt have a section for becoming a "certified ice guide"? would this be covered under "alpine guide"?. I also noticed that they have a list showing all a.m.g.a. guides. are you automaticly put on their list after certificate of completion? thanks for any help and check out their web site at http://www.amga.com

Ice climbing techniques should be covered in both "alpine" & "mountaineering" courses. Most mountains have both ice & snow and that is what you want to know how to climb taking them classes. I would also assume that you are automatically put on their list of AMGA guides page.
Have you seen any prices for classes?

i know the prices are steep because just a toprope cert is $600. this does not include lead climbing. the reason for the post was to let those posting that claim they are A.M.G.A ice climbing guides, (but in reality are not), know that they are not fooling anyone.

He brings up an interesting point, though, because I've climbed water ice with at least one guy who is AMGA cert for alpine, and they couldn't climb ice very well. At least they couldn't lead ice as smoothly as I'd expect for someone who is in charge of an alpine class full of bumbly students....
