After performing a brief search on Google for "World's largest indoor climbing gym" I got the following site with that claim. Click Here

HERE you'll find the page that I got from Google and a list of sites with the world's largest claim on like the 4th or 5th one down. Try this

In France, 3 indoor wallsare over 1200 sq.met. wide, and 3 indoor bouldering facilities are over 550 sq. met. wide. I think they are bigger ones in Germany. [ Ce Message a été édité par: thomasribiere le 2002-11-20 04:18 ]

Here in Switzerland they also claim the largest in the world (it is in Zurich) 2100 square metres (22,500 square feet) http://www.kletterzentrum.com/newsite/home.php It may be big, but it is still a zoo!! The overcrowding is awful. Cheers Fishy. [ This Message was edited by: fishypete on 2002-11-20 05:15 ]

I don't know about that Carabiner's place... it's not open yet. By the time they open, one of the existing big one's might have expanded... ...Sounds like Germany and France are the places to go, but the US has a pretty big one in Michigan: Planet Rock in Ann Arbor has 22,500 feet. (Click on the "terrain" button for size info.) http://www.planet-rock.com/climbing.html [ This Message was edited by: abkaiser on 2002-11-20 07:12 ]

This might be the biggest artificial climbing surface (not a gym, just a wall) as well as the tallest: http://www.satsop.com/climbing/ Inside of an unused cooling tower. 50 stories high! Edit: This one in France might be taller: http://www.climbing.com/Pages/gallery_pages/200/gallery-200.01.html [ This Message was edited by: brianthew on 2002-11-20 07:15 ]

I'm not entirely sure if it still is, but rumor has it that the tallest wall in the U.S. (if not the world) is here in Vegas at Gameworks @ the MGM. It's a 75' free standing tower. Routes range from 5.7 - 5.11 on it. But no chalk is allowed because that would make it not pretty anymore. And its a huge tourist trap.

The Surge Rock, which is in Las Vegas is the tallest indoor free-standing rock. The Emosson Dam in France I believe has climbing routes on it. http://www.climbing.com/Pages/gallery_pages/200/gallery-200.01.html [ This Message was edited by: alvchen on 2002-11-25 18:13 ] [ This Message was edited by: alvchen on 2002-11-25 18:14 ]

Near Las Vegas is Hoover Dam. It is 726 ft (221 m) high and 1,244 ft (379 m) long (along the crest). Write your Congressman types today, and demand access to the sheer face of this national treasure.

I'm from Massachustetts and I had no idea that there are so many large rock climbing gyms there. I moved to California and there is nothing better than the real thing also a lot cheaper.

think that zurich here in switzerland is just claiming to be the biggest gym. I can't believe that this is true. O.k. there is much to do, and you won't get bored that fast. but the overcrowding is horrible. www.kletterzentrum.com [ This Message was edited by: rico on 2002-11-27 08:19 ]
