I'm new to climbing and I'm interested in doing mountain excusions. Is there specific training involved?I live in New Jersey and there aren't too many places around here to try my hand at mountain climbing. Any information on this would be appreciated.Thanks.

Hey Noob! You got to train your ass off so that you don't get in over your head. I suggest picking up the book Freedom of the Hills. It has everything from nutrition to gear and techniques. Have fun and don't be like the noobs we hear in the news that underestimate the mountains and die.

There's tons of mountains in New England and Quebec. Albeit a lot of them are more like hills - some of them can be damn serious.

Check out the literature for the Adirondacks and the Appalachians would be my advice to you.
