Open yer wallets, folks -- the Southeastern Climbers Coalition has done it again. A contract has been signed to purchase part of the cliffline at Steele, AL. This great trad and hard sport destination has been off limits for more than 20 years, but like the recently-purchased Yellow Bluff, it will soon be open to climbing again. The purchase price for Steele is $55,000. The SCC has about $20,000 pledged already, but will need to raise the remaining money by the June closing. Please consider making a donation toward this new climbing acquisition by going to the SCC donation website: http://www.seclimbers.org/....php?name=membership For more information on Steele, including photos: http://www.seclimbers.org/...=showpage&pid=86 Contribute if you can! Yea hah, I will be there. At sloperfest I asked Adam Henry about this place. With the expression on his face and the four words that came out of his mouth"Have you been there?" I was instantly interested. I hear there is good bouldering at Steele also. I am looking forward to this one. See ya'll at Sandrock.

As a climber and a landowner all I can say is you guys rock. As I'm feeling a bit abandoned by my local access fund affiliate I just signed up for one of your recurring donations. Best of luck to all of you down there in the south. K

K Maybe you should do what those owners do, and subdivide and sell the part of their land that is valuable to the climbers. That way you can keep the majority of your land and still make a quick buck.

justroberto wrote: Any updates? With about six weeks to go, the Steele fundraiser is at the 58% mark. Roughly $33,000 has been raised; that leaves another $23,000 to go before the end of June. Keep those donations coming! JL
