This isn't about drinking and smoking, it's about being stupid.

Yes we all responded to a blatant troll, what else is new?

The thing is you obviously know nothing regarding the topic at hand. Would you take climbing advice from a non climber? No shit.

Second, I wouldnt be on the other end of your rope because I dont climb with nazis.

Third, Ive been climbing for not even 2 years and I would crush harder than you while stoned.
So why dont you not put that in your non existant pipe and not smoke it.

Classifying meth heads and the like with pot heads just demonstrates your vast knowledge of jack-shit.

You should put down the bong once in a while crusher.

I'm a Nazi because I won't climb with a stoned partner. Get bent.

Gambling, booze, pot, meds, specialK, X, powder, rock, meth and crank are all the same. Each addict thinks the next addict is more fucked up then they are. When in reality there is no difference at all. If you don't realize that then you don't know jack-shit.
Escaping reality is one thing but when ____ becomes your reality, then that's an abuse problem. Maybe when you grow up this might make more sense.

If you choose to do whatever then that's your choice. My choice is not to climb with you when your stoned.

As somebody who used to smoke pot, was never addicted, still drinks (but rarely to excess), used to smoke cigarettes, doesn't gamble......

YOU ARE FULL OF SHIT.

Dude, you make some valid points. But it is so absurd to compare pot and special K (?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), I don't even know where to begin.

Plus, you don't know these people, do you? Somebody who smokes isn't necessarily an addict. Somebody who smokes while climbing isn't necessarily an addict. If you don't know how can you accuse? Bull shit.

I couldn't drive after 3 bong hits, so I didn't. But I can, and do, drive after 3 beers (over the course of an evening...). This isn't about some pissing match, ohh my tolerance is better than yours or what have you. I'm just saying that drugs (alcohol included) affects different people differently. Some drugs have no acceptable minimal threshold for doing activities like driving or climbing.

But to say that you can't climb after taking a toke or two from a joint b/c you're totally out of control is inane. You can't make that judgement call. I have climbed and belayed after a nip of whiskey, a bottle of beer, a toke of a joint. I would posit that, depending on the person, one may be more affected by chugging energy drink than taking a toke of a joint or a nip of whiskey.

If you don't want to, or don't want your partners to- thats totally acceptable. It is totally your right and I'm not here to tell you you are lame for not being willing to do so. But to equate somebody who would take a toke off a joint before climbing to a meth head is laughable. To say that somebody buzzed off pot is in the same mental state as somebody in a k-hole is ludicrous.

I don't have the statistics (Majid might) but I'd bet that >90% of climbers who get themselves into bad situations are entirely sober. And judging by the comments in this thread, far more than 10% of climbers climb stoned. Applying simple logic, one reaches the conclusion that it is more stupid to climb sober than stoned (a conclusion that I reached myself many years ago).

R.C com is a nightmare of idiots sometimes.

The real factor of why this event happened was due to a very inexperienced member of their party. He had no clue of what to do after he made several terrible mistakes.

The mistakes he made were due only to his lack of climbing experience.

How do I know? I was the one of the guys who had to go get get his friends in the notch.

Finally, someone in this thread has made some sense. Thanks, Werner. Oh, and thanks also for saving their asses.

Why does every one think he's drunk?

He says what happened right in the video: he dropped some acid and then went and tried to climb the fixed lines. Didn't get remarkably far.

In terms of fodder for the drinking and climbing debate, this is not it. Not saying its a good idea, just saying this dooder is tripping not drinking....

Because you have in the past smoked too much weed and listened to HC?

Your equating two opposite ends of a spectrum. A little of _____ compared to a _____head.
I'm equating someone taking a toke off a joint to someone taking a toke off a meth pipe.
I'm equating chugging a bottle of Kentucky windage to smoking a hand full of pot to an 8 ball of crack.

Where's the difference? It's in our perception of substance.
Some are just socially acceptable

Some people are all bent out of shape 'cause I compared them to a meth head.
Well if someone is the type that can't put down a joint for any reason then yes, they're a pot head = to a meth head.

But if you still need convincing about the diffs 'tween substances then go to the nearest rehab and talk to some of the occupants. [I'm not saying you need to attend]

I get what you are saying. Addiction is addiction. Fine. I agree with that. But somebody who smokes pot and somebody who smokes crack/meth/etc are NOT equivalent. Not by a LONG shot.

People have real rational and sound reasons for legalizing marijuana (and similar arguments could be used to demonstrate that cigarettes should be criminalized). These same arguments could in no, way, shape or form be used to argue for the legalization of meth, crack, coke, x, heroin, etc. They are NOT equivalent drugs. There is no discussion there.

Like I said, I agree that addiction is addiction, no matter the drug/action of choice. But that does NOT mean that a pot smoker is the same as somebody who does heroin. Or meth. Or x. Or ketamines. Etc. Etc. Etc.

It is really laughable to believe otherwise.

You don't see a difference between substances? How about for lunch today you eat a big, juicy shit sandwich? Hey, it's only your perception, man. If you really liked the taste and started eating one everyday, I guess, by your logic, that would make you a shithead.

And why stop your false equivalencies short? Ibuprofen is to coffee is to refusing to ever concede a point is to heroin is to crack is to steroids is to eating McDonalds is to...

Studying addiction psychology would reveal that addiction isn't all equivalent. For instance, marijuana never induces anything but psychological withdrawals. Anybody who "can't" put down a joint just doesn't want to. Yeah, you want to get high, but pot is surprisingly easy to quit. Try that same trick with meth... Although, granted, those guys probably would have summitted multiple times on some kind of uppper...
