So, spring is here - lets see some climbing photos!
We have finally been able to take advantage of living at the red, and do some climbing. I even brought the photo gear a couple days. Most of these are using flash of some sort or another, just built a bit better hand held flash bracket, so I can use two or three speedlights now. Still dialing in the off camera stuff with on a rope, but it is pretty cool stuff to work with.

As for the pics, I like what you are doing with depth of field. Its always my favorite technique to say "hey you! look over here!"

Nice shots Wes.
So far this year I haven't been able to shoot as much as I wanted but a couple of my favorites have been rotating on the frontpage here.
My 7 year old laptop is near death so post-processing is extremely limited...just doing crop, contrast and saturation adjustments. I've got a couple more trips coming up so hopefully I can improve my techniques.
The Splitter pic was accidently underexposed by probably 4 or 5 stops, b&w was the only way it could be "saved"
This one was heavily cropped but I liked how it turned out.

Are you sure about that? I know I'm looking at a small image, but there's hardly any noise and the histogram is pretty heavy on the right. I'd be curious to see the original.
Don't get me wrong though; I think the B&W works really well with this shot.

Thanks much for the kind words - love sports and nature, just wished they paid better!
The bracket isn't anything special, a manfrotto umbrella adapter with a super clamp holding a cheap umbrella adapter sideways, which then has two flash zebra shoe adapters holding two 580 EX II's. I was using a bigger version of this, but it was too bulky. Will try to get out with the new setup next week sometime.

Thought Id add a few Ive taken over recent weeks (altho its now coming into Winter here  )
Please excuse my lazyness for not editing these photos yet (some could use a crop/adjustment) but I currently got tendonitits so can't use my mouse for long periods at the moment.
First up....

My guess is that you don’t have that lens attached to a point and shoot camera? What camera do you use?

Nice shots, Wes. I think they may be too contrasty or something for my taste. I can't quite place it. They're good though. 135mm f/2 Is a sweet lens. I hope Pentax decides to make something like that. If I could add one thing to their line up, it would be that.
I throw a few in from my month in Joshua Tree.
Some Random boulder in Josh. I'm sure it has a name and rating...

I haven't shot much climbing lately (shots below are from a job in Yellowknife a few weeks ago, more on my blog) but I'm now in the UK & will be shooting all through Europe over the coming months so I'll have something climbing to post soon!
