I'll have to check on park regulations.

So are you talking about bivi on the wall or camping on the ground?

Obviously there is no NEED to Bivy on the wall, but I thought it might make for good experience to head to Cathedral after work, climb a few pitches in the late afternoon/early evening, enjoy a night on the "wall" with a friend or 2 and climb the next day.

Just a thought.

Yeah, sounds like fun. There are a number of good spots; do you want a nice exposed ledge or just a comfortable spot somewhere? Obviously the tree ledge below Barber wall would suit your purpose, but in terms of smaller ledges, the Thin Air ledge after the chimney and the ledge after P3 of Mordor wall would be cool. There are quite a few good ledges on the right side as well.

Duncan - That's exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks for the help! I totally forgot about the ledge above the Thin Air chimney. Any idea what the rules/regulations are regarding spending a night up there?

Also; I would be looking to free climb around the 5.7/5.8 level and then haul just enough gear up to spend the night. Aside from the ledge on the Thin Air face - are there any other ledges that fit this build.

Thanks for the suggestions -

Jason

I am pretty sure camping is not allowed. I suggest that you inquire at http://www.neclimbs.com . They will now for sure.

That is one thing I forgot to mention- any camping in Echo Lake State Park is prohibited. I assume this applies to bivying on the wall as well, but you'd surely be fine if it wasn't overt.
