Not exactly sure where to post this? sport climbing? bouldering? anyway, live in Northern NJ. I am a fan of the gunks and i live under ricks rocks. I am going to Francis E. Walter dam tomorrow for my first DWS trip. its about an hour and a half away. Not sure how good its going to be, but im going to try it. I have now been searching for a few hours and gave up and decided to ask on my own, is anyone aware of any good Deep Water Soloing areas on the East Coast thats worth going to for a weekend? or a day? i dont care just i need some ideas. thanks fellas.

I wouldn't post on a public internet forum that you are going to be illegally deep water soloing at F.E. Walter dam. You could ruin the climbing access there totally, and there is some really nice bouldering and rope climbing there. Bring a rope and just toprope the stuff. It's going to be too cold to DWS, and anyway the ranger saw your post on here and he's going to be waiting for you with your ticket.

Yes, it is illegal to climb above the water and fall in, because then you must swim to shore. It is illegal to be in the water unless you are in a registered watercraft.

It's not DWS, but you can boulder at split rocks over the water!
