Gear placement on overnight mountaineering

If a party of climbers is spending multiple nights on a glacier, where do they put all their stuff overnight. I'm assuming that there isn't enough room in tents and there is going to be gale force winds and heavy snow all night (worst case scenario). Where do you put ropes, packs, skis, shovels. . . etc so they don't get damaged or covered or disappear in the storm?

Generally you have the tent staked down with skiis Poles, shovels, Ice axes or pickets Generally if I'm expecting a storm i just clip the packs bags and sleds into one or two of these items used as an anchor.

Being covered in snow dosnt hurt anything at all. Assuming you packed stuff up.

Just like he said, you put it next to the tent, anchor it with snow stake/ice axe/ski pole and cover it with a sled or a tarp. And possibly wand if you expect to be gone for a while and there might be enough snow to cover all of it.

Yep! As stated above, if worried about it blowing away just dig a small pit in the snow, put the gear in a bag, and bury it with a wand to mark its location.

you can also dig your vestibule area deeper to accomodate more stuff.

+1

it surprises me how many people forget how with a little work you can mold the snow in your vestibule to make it INFINITELY more spacious and comfortable (like a step down for putting on boots, deeper for more gear, etc)...
