I will heartily join in on this whining. The only nice thing about it is that the water and humidity adds a spicy challenge to some otherwise easy routes. If we felt like being positive at all...

yup. it has even ruined my bike rides to work. thankfully, though, the rain has coincided with the weekends and family events that would have kept me from climbing anyway.

When it comes to biking, hiking, and most things I say there is no bad weather only bad attitude. But I too forgo the bike with the ultra lame excuse of "my laptop will get wet."

I forgo the biking to work in the rain with the only moderately lame excuse of looking at the amount of scar tissue on my left elbow, forearm, and hip from trying to beat the storm home two months ago.
Lessons learned:
1. Paint lines on roads are really slippery when wet. Who knew?
2. After failing to beat the storm home, it is a good idea to stop going as fast as you possibly can
3. Helmets are wonderful
4. Limping into the local Starbucks bleeding in order to clean up and rest up before deciding whether I want to go to the hospital, call my girlfriend to pick me up, or suck it up, temporarily fix up my bike, and finish the remaining 6 miles (I chose the latter) makes one "look like a zombie"
5. Soy lattes are made of morphine. There is no other explanation.

Hey, quityerbitchin, at least your cliffs don't fall apart when it rains. This has been a terrible season out here in the rockies as well too much rain. We don't have any severely overhanging terrain out here like you guys do at Rumney. Yeah, I could drive 5 hours to Rifle but I can't climb 5.12 so it'd be a waste of time. The weather is driving me insane. I wish I knew how to whitewater kayak or something else so I'd have something fun to do in the rain.

You must not ride motorcycles, otherwise you would be very familiar with that annoying white paint. But I feel your pain, uncontrollable wet road falls are second only to trusting an easy smear that wasn't so easy for you.

Go watch you tube video of Jan Ullrich eating it hard in a TT in the TdF a few years back and you'd know about the lines.
Spent Fri night, sat, sun climbing in rumney.. got plenty of routes in and coulda done more if properly motivated. place was a ghost town most of the weekend. Thanks everyone for being pessimistic :) Even stayed till this morning but the odds were against us. sleeping in the rain was still better than driving home in Sunday night traffic

Boston drivers are dangerously good drivers - they think they can squeeze in between any two objects apart by any known distance at any speed, and they can, too. If they don't squeeze in then it must have been a miscalculation, because if they had calculated correctly then they surely would have made it.
I'm OK fighting them on dry days, but not on wet days.

Yes, the climbing-busting-rain is really annoying.
As for all those saying to "suck it up", I'm not so sure -- I remember a one or two slip-n-falls on wet routes last year that gave me a healthy respect for wet rock.
Let's hope it stops raining before it starts snowing.

If you ever want to do some alpine, NOW is the time to get used to climbing on wet rock! If you have no desire to climb alpine, than you better get a gym membership for years like this.

Certainly aint, Oregon's been sunny and warm for a while.

When are ya'll gonna learn that everything east of, including Colonotsorado sucks and continues to increasingly suck the farther east you go.
You all got some nice rocks out there, few, but nice. It's just too bad your weather sucks so bad you can never enjoy them.
Ha, kidding (sorta).

There is a reason Oregon has huge forest fires every year and the North East does not. It might have to do with the amount of rain that falls in summer.

Yeah man, I hear you on this one. I just went home to upstate new for a recent trip to visit the fam and was hoping to get some climbing in. No luck, as it rain everyday, except for the day I was leaving.
At least now it looks like the weather is turning around.
