hey all, A buddy and I are coming in to MT on the 13th as part of a long trip through the rockies. I really want to hit Allenspur, the climbing looks phenomenal and the access looks uncomplicated. i was wondering if anyone might have advice on camping nearby. My friend is picking me up from Billings at around 6pm on monday, so we'll need to find a place to stay that night, climb on tuesday, and figure out from there. we'll be headed to yellowstone next. any thoughts? thanks in advance, zach

Access changed a bit, and the approach is now shorter, check this out for details http://montanaclimbers.org/...nfo?reset=1&id=2 As for camping, the closest seems to be off off Luccock Park Road aka Pine Creek(Though I've never checked it out), a few miles farther south on East River Road, or you can head a bit further south and camp in Mill Creek, which also has some stellar climbing. Have fun! TK

Is that a commercial campground? Mill Creek looks incredible. Unfortunately, I'm too broke for trad gear, and it seems like that's how to really enjoy that place. Not that you can understand everything through the web, but Allenspur seems to have a quiet, local feel. Small, hometown crags are my favorite spots 9 times out of 10. Thanks TK. Zach

I'm pretty sure it's pay camping...but there's alot of forest service land through out the area... Most crags out here in Montana have that nice quiet feel to them...pretty nice. Cheers!
