That climb is hard and I can see that like a bright day light. The leader is a badas* climber leading hard pitch and he is doing awesome job but the belayer IMO is not doing a good job. This time, she was lucky but next time, she may hurt someone. seriously- it was a 30' fall at about 60-70' up...no. big. deal. didier didnt come anywhere near the ground. that piece (and possibly the one below it) could have failed before he would have even been in the vicinity.

We don't agree on the video belay but this is pretty good stuff right here. Well spoken and written Majid. Love that African Dog thing. It works and is true as well, however, he didn't deck.

This video clearly demonstrates the danger of using an ATC.

I belay will ATC ,8 and GG....and each device handles the belaying differently but set of belaying skill should be the same regardless of what you use, however, many climbers suffer from lack of good belaying skill. I mean, how many time you read this " I dropped my partner or I decked cause there was too much slack "?

majid_sabet wrote: I mean, how many time you read this " I dropped my partner or I decked cause there was too much slack "? Why do you keep going in circles on this? I and others have repeatedly pointed out that in the case of your original post, the belayer did not have too much slack in the system and that your opinion of her belaying poorly is incorrect. All you're doing now is just pointlessly keeping the thread going, demoting you to very low troll status. Not up to your usual standards at all.
