I'm planning on spending 3-4 days at the gunks this weekend with my gf. does anyone know if there are public showers anywhere in new paltz? personally I don't mind roughing it but er, she might.

Wet wipes or a dip in split rock. Those are the only ways that I know of to get clean around there!

I think you can buy a shower at the hostel, located on downtown Main Street next to the bus station. Haven't the contact info on hand, but with a search you probably can find them and call to see about it. Also - You could try setting up a solar shower as compromise between all and nothing.

There is still the health club in the same shopping center as the Inner Wall, but I forget the pertinent info. Creek works for most people. Stealth showers work for others. TS

Fresh, Maybe we'll see you up there. Split Rock is usually the best way to go....or the bathroom at the Guilded Otter.

Fresh, check out the Creekview Campsites. they're 5 miles from Npaltz on 32, $10 a nite, showers, fire pits. I stayed there on my gunks trip the week before last. as much as I dig the MUA, it was nice to have a showr at the end of the day.

But it is the most reasonable camping option in the area if you want amenities. Considering a shower in town will cost you at least $5 alone, it's a bargain. TS
