Hi, Another question, is there a rap line from the top of RNWF to the bottom? Cant find any definative answer to this, in the supertopo it says you can rap off the route if it storms but not sure if that can be done from the top or whether there are good quality rap stations or whether you need to leave gear for some rap points. I'm trying to decide on our descent strategy (I know you can walk down the muir trail), 3 of us will be climbing with light rucksacks and 2 60m ropes. Appreciate any info, thanks Bern

There is no standard rappel route from the top of RNWF to the bottom. It could probably be done, but you might have to leave gear at a few anchors, and there is risk of hanging up ropes on a rappel. It should be much faster to descend the cables, especially with 3 people. You can then hike back to the base if you have left gear there. Normally you don't return to the base unless you are descending the slabs to Mirror Lake.

Some of the pitches traverse quite a bit...I wouldn't think it would be an easy rap.
