Walking back to the car at the end of day this saturday (7/25/09) there was someone laying at the base of a climb (near the carriage road), a few mins later an ambulance arrived. Just wondering if anyone knows what happened... my g.f. and i thought we heard something about a broken leg, but not sure and don't want to spread rumors. So does anyone have any details and is the person ok? Thanks... seeing injuries that bring an ambulance always gives me a the creeps.

from gunks.com: (i don't understand the post... but here's what was posted) the climber was trying to set up a top rope for his party on kens crack after he led it. after he finished constructing his anchor one rope went through his belay and he fell from that onto the block. he had a possible back injury, possible broken ribs, and a leg injury. i believe that was it, however I could be missing something. thanks to rangers who happened to still be around way after their workday was over. this happened late in the day, around seven. hope climber has a good recovery. ----------- i'm not sure what 'one rope went through his belay ' means, somone posted in reponse to get further clarification. does anyone have any detail? AND is the climber ok?

after thinking about this.... MAYBE: "one rope went through his belay" means that only one rope went through his belay device, so when he leaned back to rap.... the rope pulled and he fell original post: http://gunks.com/ubbthreads7/ubbthreads.php/topics/47057/Fall_near_the_Uberfall#Post47057
