i think these things suck. they walk like crazy, especially from hand size and up. i have a bunch of them that i got years back when i was a student and was trying to build up an indian creek rack. i wish i'd just dropped the extra cash and bought the right stuff to begin with. they also don't have a big range (each individual cam).

When they first came out and were like 20 bucks a cam I belayed a friend who pulled two of the first gen u stems in a single fall...we think the u stem levered them out of pods which would have been an issue with any u stem cam.

I have fallen on Rock Empire Robot cams

sizes

.4 dark blue
.5 red
1 grey
2 yellow
3 blue

A good cam placement is a good cam placement, the Robots work, they hold.

I've blown the yellow one out once, but that was completely my fault due to poor placement = decent whip (40ft)

Honestly when it comes to a crux piece, I would say 75% of the time I grab the rock empires first over BD's (for small sizes, it's usually metolius master cams or tcus)

I like the camming angle...yes they may lack the range and refinement of the BD's but I like how they feel in one's hand, love the trigger (great for those with small hands)...however, I think the camming angle of these gems are fantastic....has a solid bite-feel when placed IMHO

The #4 orange and # 5 black do work, but sling them long, haven't fallen on those sizes....yet

Only drawbacks I think, is the weight of the set overall.

Note: I've been using mine for the last 4 years

I have taken falls on Rock Empire cams. They are fine

I have also fallen on Wild Country Forged Friends, WC Technical Friends, old Camalots, newer Camelots, C4s, Metolious cams, DMM Quadcams, Trango cams, HB Flex Cams, a weird Cassin cam that I got on sale, a Russian copy of a forged friend and more recently a Ukrainian made cam.

They were all fine.

Some were finer than others but they were all fine.

Anytime I have had a cam blow, it has been more to do with a dodgy placement, than the cam itself.

Yes, I have fallen on RE cams, and yes they work! The large ones walk easily, so you have to pay extra attention to your placement. The small-medium ones are gems, and work just as good as any other small cam I've used. They are less elegant, and less shiny, but they can really take a beating, especially the single stems units!

i found a 30 foot boulder with a bad landing and set out to lead it. it started out on a slab for 15 feet, then reached a roof and shoved in a blind placement of a .25 Durango, pulled the roof and fell.

basically twenty feet off the ground, and above the smallest RE cam placed blindly as my only peice of pro and i trusted it.

Just like the cams, they just don't die!
