On September 6th, the SCC finalized the purchase of a portion of Steele (aka Chandler Mt), located 30 minutes northeast of Birmingham, Alabama. The closing had been delayed several times due to title problems. Thanks to the Access Fund for providing a bridge loan for the purchase and thanks to everyone who donated their cash towards this buy.

Thanks Gus for all of your hard work along with the many volunteers, local shops, gyms and the Access Fund who have all donated time, energy and funds to this project.

Buying this tract is the start of a long term project to secure chunks of the whole cliffline (1.5 miles plus).

We all look forward to climbing at Steele this fall.
