Ft McShiteHole isn't really climbing condusive. Unless your climbing trees, bridges (not exactly legal), or dirt river bank climbing. I have seen some great ice climb form in the mines (again not legal). I know of at least one person who has climbed ice up there though they said it was easy WI2 and not really worth it. You're better off saving some funds and travelling to Jasper, which would be about the closest climbing area to you.

You could always build a wall.

Edit to add: Or you could just move somewhere else.

The ONLY reason to be up in Fort Mac, is to be making enough coin to take summers off and hit some real climbing destinations.

If you are up there year round..... you may want to reevaluate your life.

Climbing gyms in Edmonton and Grand Prarie, are going to be the closest things to you.

Nexen, south of the city. Nice drive to work by the lake, better than the drive through the oil sands up north

dude i loooove albian sands. it reminds me of a beach in paradise. warm. And sandy. great climbing weather all year! duuuude fyi. savage bridge rap/swing/jump of death heading up to cnrl. Total sickness. maybe even higher than pembina i'd say. if you have a car, you should really drive out and check it out!

used to think Ft Mac was bad; then i moved to Yellowknife for work. There is rock here but holy shit it is embarrassing to even think of climbing on it's so pathetic! To top it off, Nahanni is blocked by a river and the rockies are a thousand miles southwest

Hey All,

If you're looking for someone to explore with, I'm totally down! I've been thinking of setting up a top rope for the big sand/gravel stone walls across the river from Timberlea and I've bouldered on the edge of the river by Mac Island, it's actually quite solid with tons of bouldering potential if you use your imagination and aren't afraid to possibly get a bit scratched up. Also, the bomb diggity is to rope swing off the huge bridge! If you want the location, message me.

Kyle
