kill this thing! NO ONE likes the damn ads that put stuff on your screen and stop you from using the website. I'm sick of having to close it every time i check the home page.

Agree, this thing is really annoying. And for those of you saying to use AdBlock, not everyone uses Safari or similar browsers that accept 3rd party ad-ons.

Hi there, If this happens again, please take a screen shot and sent it to us. We have absolutely zero tolerance for pop-up ads, and would like to keep them off the site.

This is what it looks like.... and is even occurring as I write this post! In duplicate! Surely this is a major reason for the site's slow performance?

Here's the ad once it's done wiping up its mess.

The worse variant is when the sidebar ad and the top bar ad both do it. I don't know how to take a screenshot with my girlfriend's mac, but when it happens on my home computer, I'll post up a screenshot.

Thank you, psmarais. This is one of the most annoying and invasive ads I've seen anyplace. I keep my adblock off for this site, because I want to help support it, but that ad makes it nearly impossible to read and use the forums. It opens on, at a minimum, every third page view for me. It opens twice at the same time. And, it's finicky about where you click to close it; you have to get right on the word "Close."

Many of the ads are served by a third-party ad supplier. Not everything is seen and approved by Daniel et al before it goes live. But once it does, if it's something invasive, I every confidence they'll squash it. Subaru, by the way, has a history of what I would call unethical web advertising. Back when I was blue, they inquired about seeding the forums with pro-Subaru posts. Of course, I said no, absolutely not, and that I would permanently ban any user suspected of it.

I have been having to wait until it goes away to hit the post reply button.

wjca wrote: Does this site really have this little control over the adds that is runs? Really? WTF? Just bear with us. Ads are being served by NameMedia, the owner of the site, while we are running and managing the site from South Africa. I think we mentioned this when we took over the management responsibilities from NameMedia in April. Anyway, since we're in different time zones it sometimes means a few hours lag before we can make changes to the ads being served. DDT

i actually just emailed Subaru and told them that I wanted to cockpunch their ad department. Seriously. This is waaaay more than every third page load. It's EVERY page load, but sometimes twice.

Apple-shift-4 and you can use the mouse to highlight a box around what you want to capture
