Used to go there in the 80s; if you follow the stream where it meanders away from the fire road there are some fun boulders and overhanging sandstone/shale ledges. Nothing world-class or anything awesomely big, but if you're in Williamsport it's worth a day trip. Just below the overlook at the top of the ridge there's also a decent Pennsylvanian fern-fossil collecting locality.

Hey, There is an area on the way to rock run (if coming from billport). Couple people and I were trying to develop it a little. We call it Fern Gully. It's in loyalsock state forest land. As you're going up 14 towards rock run, look for a road call lower grays run road or Upper grays run road on your left (you want to get to upper regardless) follow it until it turns to dirt and keep going until you get to a Y. One (bodine mountain road) goes up on the right part of the Y. Start up there. Make sure you're driving a vehicle that has atleast some height to it. Go up that mountain until you start topping out and go over 2-3 rolling hills and you will start coming down a little...eventually you will go around a bend, look to your left and you will see a cliff face... park in the parking area and start roaming...that cliff is called middle fern, if you look to your right (opposite side of cliff) lower fern is a few min. hike... upper fern is past middle fern(obviously).... there are paths that can be followed towards lower fern.. atleast last time I was there (few years)

Last I knew they were doing some work on it....That was back in '08 though. I got up there in a 98 Saturn SL1 before they started working on it. However, I am unsure as to what winter would have done to that road and whether or not there is still some snow on it. I have never seen all of rock run. Wish I did. I've only seen the wave area. Any who, going to Mt. Gretna on Sunday. Hope you have as much fun as I will be.
