Hello, My girlfriend and I have the first week of March off and are planning to travel to either Tennessee or Georgia to climb. We do not climb trad, so we need to find sport routes, and we are still pretty much beginners as we are not able to climb higher than 5.9, maybe easy 5.10 ... So, any suggestions ? Thanks.

In the South eastern area of TN, you got foster falls, leda, and a few others. In the northern part you got the Obed. There are plenty more areas then that, but they have mostly harder routes then what you're lookin for. I cant think of any easy sport areas in georgia right off hand.

Do A search you lazy ars. There are tons of threads about this here same exact name. Damz it. OK I will add the best place to clip bolts is in this order. Georgia, Lost Wall Tennesee Sunset wall, stay away from fosters that place is garbage. You will have much better sport climbing at the T-Wall Alabama Little River Canyon, and HP 40 Have fun these places are so good and the bolts are all spaced real nice. You are going to love climbing in the south. Enjoy.

Generally the good sport climbing is going to start at 5.10 and up. Foster's has a few good routes in the 5.9 range, and so does Leda. I don't know where you are coming from, but supposing I did know, I could be more helpful with suggestions for you.

T-wall? Laurel knob? Whitesides? Although these are all prime "sport climbing" destinations, I would have to say that these places are all ugly! If you want some good scenery and non-chossy classic lines, then hit up Curahee in GA.

Why are you trying to send them there? Those places are sewers. Help out your fellow climbers and give them the advice they need. OP stay away these places are mostly trad with a couple of Sport run out trad mixed aid lines.

Ok no more fooling around. Yes all those places are crap to go to if you are sport climbing. I would suggest places like Foster falls (hardish routes), Sandrock (good intermediate to beginner routes), or maybe Mount Yonah (large amount of beginner routes)

Liar, Obed is so small I can throw a rock across all the climbs there. The place to go for sport is Wait for it THE GYM ROOKIE

i'm in about the same range as you and i've had a great time at the obed, leda, and sandrock. i was underwhelmed by mt. yonah. check out mountainprojects "best routes for you in this area feature. it's a great way to see what areas will be a good time for you.
