I boulder alone a lot, if going anyplace far from the car carrying much beyond the crash pad is a hassle. Any good methods you've come up with for carrying a bit of gear and a crash pad, since the back pack is kind of out. Suppose I could wear a small pack backwards on the chest or something, seems kinda lame tho. thanks

depends what pad you have.. I have a franklin/BD dropzone and shove everything inside.. including a small waist pack that i put food, water, keys etc in close the flaps and it's all contained. even most normal taco pads you can fit a small day pack inside and still get it to close up. if you're worried it will drop out you could throw a sling around a handle and clip it on with a biner

hell nah. just sling your pad to the pack. it's easy with a carabiner and some imagination. plus you can make it ride lower so it doesn't hit limbs and boulders as you approach.

I would suggest taking a course in backpacking and also a Mexican cooking class. Sack up wuss, carry the weight. Either on your chest or taco/burrito style.

[Suppose I could wear a small pack backwards on the chest or something, seems kinda lame tho.] you shouldnt care about how you look, or how "lame" it is to carry it on your chest. you shouldnt be worried about what other people think of you. GO OUT THERE AND HAVE FUN! and if it works and its comfortable to carry on your chest... THEN DO IT!

You'll never get any ass showing up with a papoose-esque JanSport strapped to your chest. That shits lame, you should just stay home and hit the Wii.

How many people think the OP thought about putting things into the folded pat itself? I'm bettin that they did not...

I don't think the OP needs to worry about that if they can't figure out how to carry a few items to a boulder.

cheers for the replies Hmm kinda thought stuffing a bunch of crap in it would be a cluster f*ck with this pad but I'll give it a try, sounds like that's the way to go. very cool on the bouldering bag..that might just work well also, as well as the other ideas thanks

Not what you're looking for, most likely, but the Organic Fullpad has a big zipped pouch/built in pack that holds quite a bit of stuff. I use it to hold everything from lunch to first aid, bug spray, tape, whatever. A carabiner for my shoes and i'm good to go. It's really one of the most useful crash pad features you can have...

How do you even get out of the market if if you don't put thing inside of the bag. Just cary every thing out one buy one? if you think its going to be a big cluster f*ck then find a messenger bag with a long strap and sling it around the top of the pad. or just strap your pack on the back with a sling.
